Team spirit plus

Each programme is designed to suit the needs of each particular team. However, the following is an outline of a typical programme.

Evaluation of team's capabilities of working together to achieve its objectives – its  “Readiness”.

Helping individuals to understand their preferences/ways of working using Myers-Briggs/ADQ and what effect these preferences have on how they relate to others.

Understanding and evaluating the group problem solving process.

Helping individuals/teams to understand their preferred roles within a team.

Facilitate the group; clarifying what their purpose is, who their customers are and what are their objectives.

Throughout these phases use short indoor/outdoor exercises to illustrate real team behaviours and facilitate feedback to individuals.

Finish by bringing the parts together with the agreement of an action plan for the group and  its members to achieve its objectives and purpose in the work situation.

A review day some three months later to consolidate implementation

Achieving goals

Goal setting is at the heart of good team management. Performance standards must be clear so that the team knows how well they are doing and where and how they can improve. Goals are important, therefore, because they act as an essential backcloth to behaviour itself.  They are the vehicle through which meaningful team outcomes are achieved.

Effective teamwork is an essential for all organisations. It is a major area of expertise of mine. I have run team workshops for the boards of major companies to their operational staff.

Sectors include those above, manufacturing, marketing and PR companies and Strategic Consultancies.

My focus is on the task side – effective delivery and team organisation and the people side - client communication and team member motivation.

The outcomes are clear actions in all these areas. Benefits have included bottom line savings, simplified decision making and other processes, greater client satisfaction and higher employee motivation.

Workshops can vary from ½ day to 4 days depending on client needs and diagnosis.

All-round excellence

These courses help individuals to understand their preferences, their ways of working and how they relate to others. This knowledge can help to ease the plight of those who feel they are square pegs in round holes and improve productivity and job satisfaction.

Acceptance of the person, though, requires a tolerance of imperfection. Anybody could lead perfect people – if there were any. But there aren't perfect people.
